Hi there nice to meet you last night in Lustleigh Devon.Good time had by all, good banter, some good tales told! Don’t forget the small roads and especially The Health and Safety,”There’s got to be a song in there somewhere!” Sue says hello and reminds you not to forget the mist over the Yorkshire Dales. The UK is a strange place full of history and much legend, don’t believe it all,but keep the faith and remind yourself that England will always offer you a sanctuary away from the crazyness that is Der USA.Obviously Lustliegh will never be the same again,! you made a great impression I’m sure, not much happens in the country normally so big nite for the locals.Hopefully we could keep in contact cos it’s good to meet new people and I’m sure much could be talked about. Some Bands you may or may not have heard:………………………………………..:Broken Social Scene,CANADIAN superb querky inventive multi instumentalist band, lots of members trumpets lot’s of drums and many singers.great twisted melodies and very Canadian……………………………………….:Wolf Parade : another very interesting band from Toronto, broken and tarnished road songs full of power and guts.We like to call all this :AMERICANA music but as I said on Saturday nite it goes back such a long way.Remember THE CHARLATANS from the Bay Area In 1965,The International Submarine band,Quicksilver M service and of course The G.Dead.What did GramParson’s call it all? Ah yes Cosmic American music way back i n 1968.So tides turn and fashion changes. What was hip and cool once, becomes old and dull.Times change and kids will find a way of re discovering older styles and music,Chuck Berry -Beach Boys,Beatles,Stones, Doors,Hendrix,Zeppelin, punk,Alt American 80′s,the paisley revolution Long ryders,Green on Red and yourself! Not forgetting Mr.N Young ANd Crazy Horse.Forget the 80′s went to sleep for a decade! Woke up in 1987 to sounds eminating from across the water via Seattle :Temple of the Dog to be precise, a combination of Sub pop’s roster giving music a much needed kick up the arse. With new young bands forming around this new scene, things took off again.I’m glad music takes detours and dies sometimes because this always gives impetous to the young and new ideas can flourish.Long may it continue
and ………………………………………………..All good things are worth the wait!!!!! Cu Simon
