i can appreciate the lack of charm this town has hanging around its neck, but. ive been on board since glum. ive driven to Tuscon a fair share. had bad post show breakfast down the street from the congress. i get it. band that play the metro in chicago play the modified in phoenix. on the same tour. this is all old news, at this point, but i would suggest that you shouldn't have booked the show. as you sat staring at your children, ready for the snuggle, i would suggest that you should have driven to phoenix to play the show you committed to playing, in front of the people that came to see you. plenty of time for ruminations and epiphanies after you just went ahead and did what you said you'd do. play the show, that is. sorry if this all sounds sour and parental, but 4 years waiting to see you perform in a situation where i didnt have to book a room, or lay off the spirits for the drive home. like the new record though. so i got that going for me.......

I can't hold the cancellation against you as phoenix. while having a few hidden gems, can devour your soul and leave you a hollow, bitter shell of a man.

The only thing I ask of you in return is that you continue, at least for a few more times, to rock Tucson with your presence a few more times so that I can make the drive down to see you guys for the first and hopefully not the last time.

I grew up in north Phoenix, and my formative years are full wonderful memories of desert keggers and garage bands, of being able to be in the middle picturesque desert nowhere in under 20 min.

I have since moved to elsewhere in the world and am always saddened by what has become of home town. You now have to go up the 17 halfway to Flagstaff to lose civilization. Any comparison to L.A. is apt, the traffic has become unbearable, the air quality intolerable, and the decor repetitive at best (just drive through anthem).

I was on my way to that Phx giant Sand show when something told me to call the venue and make sure they weren't cancelled. Turns out the something was a smart something. Sadly, it's true that Phx isn't (yet!) conducive to independent touring acts who do great in Tucson and even Flagstaff.
Things do seem to be turning around in places, though. And hopefully the sleazebag promoters in Phx who only care about liquor sales will wither away. The Mesa Arts Center is a beautiful venue that's just waiting for interesting acts. They need to shake off the John Tesh smooth jazz format, or at least mix it up a bit. But there's a glimmer of hope.
In the meantime, we will keep driving to Tucson for our music...

Dear Howe

I do not know Phoenix at all nor do I know Tucson but I do think that your new album is worth being promoted anywhere as it is just very good. Please keep on cultivating your art of laziness which apparently is allowing you to grow some sort of music and poetry that is like an oasis in the nowadays desert of busyness in the industrial scientific market machine that is being fed with our lives. Sorry for my bad English, we live in Switzerland and are looking very forward seeing you on monday in Zürich, please be assured that the joint there will be stuffed with people appreciating your sound and being.

With my best regards
