The only thing I ask of you in return is that you continue, at least for a few more times, to rock Tucson with your presence a few more times so that I can make the drive down to see you guys for the first and hopefully not the last time. I have since moved to elsewhere in the world and am always saddened by what has become of home town. You now have to go up the 17 halfway to Flagstaff to lose civilization. Any comparison to L.A. is apt, the traffic has become unbearable, the air quality intolerable, and the decor repetitive at best (just drive through anthem). Turns out the something was a smart something. Sadly, it's true that Phx isn't (yet!) conducive to independent touring acts who do great in Tucson and even Flagstaff. Things do seem to be turning around in places, though. And hopefully the sleazebag promoters in Phx who only care about liquor sales will wither away. The Mesa Arts Center is a beautiful venue that's just waiting for interesting acts. They need to shake off the John Tesh smooth jazz format, or at least mix it up a bit. But there's a glimmer of hope. In the meantime, we will keep driving to Tucson for our music...
