waking up is amazing when the body feels recharged like that. another shower and a capuchi. then we bundle up the van for the last ride. soe and gabe have already left early to catch trains home. we get dropped off in bologna to eat some more and wait for the planes. it feels fantastic to have a day off. fantastic.
we walk around bologna, the city of women, as it is known. then make our way to the airport. its always an art to say good bye. but i can’t help tearing up as my amp drives away. the driver has been great. frederico. belushi great. and now its all disappearing. enrico the promoter too. steve left left to find his late night train to england.
we sit around the airport for a couple hours and it never feels too long on a day off. me and thøger find the “club” and buy a hotel room in madrid for the night, masterful priceline bidders that we are. cheap hilton is us.
then one more long good bye with the other danes, peter, anders and nikolaj, heading off to copenhagen. me and thøger mosey next. madrid next stop. his family coming in there tomorrow. mine arrive a week later. down to cordoba we’ll all go. another record to make. gypsy life waiting to embrace each breadth. that singular southwestern smile all southwesterners have around the globe.
the end of this and the start of that.
