Book of Lies

day 4 :::: 4•28-11 belgium

next day is a day off. helps to facilitate the jet lag in a more pronounced fashion. so there’s a lot of sleep this day. diet of coffee and beer. fish soup. then buy a thin coat for an added layer. oil skin. has a shine to it and smells like oil.

that night after a good dinner, we take in my host’s set; admiral freebee. he has a great voice and applies himself in familiar fashion. he also has an invisible bird on stage with him.

afterwards we allow the night to spurl away underfoot. some sweet chatter within clustering throb. then sleep to look forward too again.

awaken by lag at 6 instead of 4. that’s better. watch the tv. good stuff on. the story of how the moon is leaving the earth is being bandied. another channel grants a lesson in weather and explains the different air masses. and the 3rd channel begins its pageantry of britain’s william and kate getting hitched.

pack up and head to the airport with thøger and nive rides with us too. her band is waiting at the airport already. lots of traffic. when we arrive she has to run off in hopes to still make her plane. our plane appears to be cancelled.

they eventually find us another plane but we have to wait around.

deciphering airport logic: the airline woman explains that we cannot have passes to the lounge because our flight was cancelled (due to them not having enough staff). only the other flight that has been delayed can have the passes. when i present the obvious point that a cancelled flight should trump over a delayed flight. she retorts that the new flight they have rebooked us on is not delayed, and looks confused when i mention the 3 hours we have to wait around the airport for it. she hands us 6 euro snack vouchers with a smile. evil.

the jet lag begins to creep up on us. as we find a spot to sit and nod, the wedding has commenced on the flat screens there. it attracts a somber and stoic crowd of travelers. they are entranced by the flicker. me and thøger sup a beer that allows the lag to really lean in.

when we finally make it up to our gate, jan and nive and their whole band is still there too. their plane had been delayed this entire time. we think we’re now on the same plane. but no. 2 planes to copenhagen are leaving at the exact same time at the 2 gates next to each other.

we can see nive and jan’s plane just next to ours as we sit at the gate.

off we go first by a minute, but in a much smaller plane. the lag twittles our heads and licks up the miles we can’t feel. outside the moon continues to leave the earth, always keeping the same face towards us as if it doesn’t trust the earth anymore. what happened ?

can’t type anymore. lag won’t allow. the en
