went to pay my bill. minibar came to 26 euros for 2 beers. the clerk behind the counter was a kid. he couldn’t stop laughing either.
told him next time the beers are on him. he said sure, but not in the hotel.
caught my 2:00 train to rome. the fast one. 3 hours. 1st class. makes ii a little faster.
i got there and found out their rush hour, unlike spain, is exactly the same hour as ours in america. so it took a while for my cab to first go the wrong way in it and then find my hotel. when we got out to where it was, he turned to me and sneered “the bronx”. ok.
the 4 star hotel was really another italian 2 star. its just the way it is.
the venue tonight was back to the old rock club crumble. hey, i think they invented graffitti in this country, right ?
but it also happens to be butt up against the 3000 year old roman aquaduct, so how bad can it really be. and the people who run it are sweet of course. they fight the good fight to keep some kind of vibe alive in rome. not easy.
dinner was ok. i was grumpy. this kind of touring is fantastic for anyone younger then i am. and italy is very attractive, the food, the people, the food, the wine. very attractive. so its worth this old way of doing things tour wise. but i am just too crinkled to love it anymore.
after the pasta hits the belly, a better mood posses me. and the amp i have to use on this short italian run is absolutely stellar. a 4 speaker (12”) twin !!!! fantastico !!!! it is so much like the 6 speaker (10”) super i have back home that i can’t tour with because its too f@ckin big. the sound is my dream tone, fat and effective and ready to overtake or add momentous rumble underneath everyone.
so the show takes on a punk rock thrust tonight. just wanted to see what that baby could do. a little loud maybe. but a great show. the kind that can only happen in a place like this with an amp like that.
the band was grand. we played a long time. afterwards, many adoring kisses and autographs. i think they invented the autograph here too.
some folks drove 100 miles to see the show, like gianluca and nina.
i hung out with them a bit outside by the 300 year old tree and the 3,000 year old plumbing. it sweetens the night to take in those smiles.
